Responsible for technical execution of a variety of transportation engineering projects. Provide engineering design and supervision for a variety of highway design projects including, but not limited to: roadway reconstruction and overlay, bridge approaches, storm sewers, sidewalks, ADA ramps, guardrail, pavement marking and signing, and asset management projects. Responsible for managing and executing highway/roadway design projects. Oversee and perform engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, construction and maintenance of traffic details. Oversee and perform the creation of engineering documents including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Reports, and Variation/Exception Reports. Perform advanced Microstation/GEOPAK processes. Coordinate plans, calculations and specifications amongst multi-discipline engineering teams. Perform senior level internal quality control to ensure designs, plans and calculations are complete and accurate. Participate in business development activities, assisting in the creation of letters of response and technical proposals/presentations. Attend project and planning meetings.
Responsible for meeting schedule, budget and quality goals. Prepare and submit appropriate project reports. Monitor progress on projects. Provide mentoring to junior staff in engineering/project management practices. Serve as technical expert on task/project on key transportation projects. Deliver quality transportation projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client for projects assigned as Project Manager. Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/ management of change.
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling. Drive/travel to client meetings, field work, and site inspections. Requires: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering and 10 years of relevant work experience to include: Highway/Roadway Design, Pavement Design, Project Management, MicroStation Software, GeoPAK, Project Wise, Quality Control, Indiana Department of Transportation plan preparation criteria and design standards.
