The 16 Tech Master Plan is a new 50-acre innovation district and technology park that was developed with input and support from community leaders and that will define Indianapolis as a place of global technological innovation.
Serving as Lead Landscape Architects, roadway, and utility engineers, Shrewsberry defined the streetscape and open space network to influence a distinct character within this innovation district. By optimizing the development’s potential as a dense mixed-use, live, work, play and learn community, the site will connect via a new bridge over Fall Creek to the IUPUI campus to the south within a ‘complete street’ environment fostering safe interaction of multiple transportation modes in a dense bustling vibrant neighborhood.
The area is defined by 10th Street to the south, 16th Street to the north, Indiana Avenue to the east, and the railroad to the west. Ultimately 16Tech will be home to a combination of:
- Flexible research space
- Creative industries and the arts
- Generous public space serving as a respite for tenants and adjacent neighbors, while serving as a regional destination
- Mixed use housing, retail and office space for entrepreneurs and established companies
16Tech will also be designed in such a way as to infuse new life into the surrounding neighborhoods through ongoing programming and partnerships with neighborhood organizations, while supporting adjacent land use opportunities.
