Shrewsberry provided the City of Fort Wayne with a Feasibility study, including Landscape Architecture services, for the redevelopment of McMillen Park. The concept reimagines the park as a true Rugby (and other sports such as soccer and lacrosse) facility.
The proposed plan will keep the baseball/softball fields and develop a rugby, soccer and lacrosse hub on the west portion of the park. A new baseball field with a NE orientation will fit nicely for future improvements. This plan features one synthetic turf pitch, one natural turf pitch and a natural turf youth pitch. Parking will still be increased by ninety-six to give a total of 298 parking spaces. The pavilion and shelter structures will provide places for comfortable seating, concessions and restrooms. A large regional playground will add value to the project by giving the youth not participating in a sport some fun activity. This playground will also activate the park when no sport is scheduled to play.
