Shrewsberry teamed with Indianapolis Testing Laboratory (ITL) for the construction inspection and management on this high profile design-build, $32 million INDOT project located in Boone County, IN.
Located just north of I-865, this stretch of I-65 experiences high traffic volume with nearly 70,000 vehicles per day. With such a high demand to accommodate large volumes of traffic, 8.5 miles of the interstate were rehabilitated and accompanied by an additional travel lane for both northbound and southbound traffic. In order to support the new lane construction, the bridge spanning I-65 at SR-267 was also demolished and reconstructed to nearly twice its width and significantly longer.
Aside from controlling operations which included HMA milling and paving, bridge construction and earthworks, this project also integrated new drainage structures, guardrails and other traffic barriers along with new signage structures and signage including, but not limited to the addition of two DMS systems for both north and southbound traffic. .
