The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission required a terminal ramp expansion and rehabilitation project to facilitate increased need for remain overnight (RON) parking, as well as upgrading and preserving the existing apron pavement. This expansion included PCC pavement, trench drain replacement, remarking the entire apron and expansion, and joint and local existing panel replacement/repair. Phasing was a critical in order to maintain the functionality of the main terminal and operations.
Shrewsberry delivered the pavement markings, joint layout plans and details for this project. This project included preliminary plan sets and working through the airport’s goals for increasing their RON parking area. Marking for the terminal ramp required remarking existing and obliteration of portions of the existing marking in order to bring the apron up to current FAA standard requirements. Markings are essential on the terminal ramp of any airfield to help operations complete timely and efficient transactions. Shrewsberry provided a new marking numbering system for both the gates and RON parking spaces to help accommodate the airport operations and simplify their current traffic management strategy. Similarly, the joint layout involved consideration of non-uniform traffic patterns and ensuring longevity of the newly created expansion.e plans.
