The White River Water Treatment Plant (WRWTP) is the largest water purification facility of Indianapolis. On average, the facility provides nearly 60% of the total finished water that is delivered to customers in the entire Indianapolis system and is the chief water treatment plant that provides water to the downtown Indianapolis area. The water source is conveyed to the plant through the canal.
The purpose of this project is to provide a second source of raw water for WRWTP through the installation of a new intake weir in Fall Creek, a new river intake pump station, head box, and discharge diffuser.
Shrewsberry provided construction inspection for the structures, including the installation of sheet piles, concrete pours, pipes, pumps, and electrical systems. Testing was also observed for all concrete pours and pressure testing for the pipe. In addition to inspection and testing oversight, Shrewsberry was responsible for issuing daily reports and creating an asset management list for the project.
