Shrewsberry is serving as the lead Landscape Architect for the entire 50-acre redevelopment on the fringe of downtown Indianapolis known as 16 Tech Innovation District. Within this role our team is responsible to ensure a consistent design vocabulary within the public realm is integrated throughout the entire district as it develops in phases. Building One, as the charter building was designed with careful consideration of the 16 Tech District Core Master Plan to incorporate the site plan seamlessly into the streetscape amenities and infrastructure plan. The designed site amenities for Building One include an outdoor entry plaza that serves as a district activity node featuring café seating, raised planters with incorporated seat walls, catenary lighting and movable chairs. The gritty and somewhat temporary south plaza features overhead shade structures, catenary lighting, fixed bench seating, and a bocce ball court for recreation.
16 Tech will define Indianapolis as a place of global technological innovation bringing to one location high tech research, developers, and innovators to collaborate within this ultra-contemporary environment. While 16 Tech will drive a wide range of research, innovation, academic, entrepreneurial, technological and commercial activity, it will also accommodate residential, retail, and recreational uses.
